Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) is proposing a coal seam gas (CSG) to liquefied natural gas (LNG) development project in Queensland.
Australia Pacific LNG has Australia’s largest CSG reserves position and is well placed to enable the creation of a world-class, long-term industry in Queensland.
Experience behind the Project
Australia Pacific LNG uses the combination of two vastly experienced companies to set it aside from its competition.
- With Origin as the largest integrated energy company operating across Australia and New Zealand and holding world-class CSG reserves in Queensland, and
- ConocoPhillips, which is the third largest integrated energy company in the United States and a leading developer and operator of LNG projects around the world.

The Project Consists of:
- Further development of Australia Pacific LNG's existing coal seam gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins.
- Construction of a gas transmission pipeline approximately 400 kilometres long from the coal seam gas fields to an LNG plant at Gladstone.
- Development of the LNG plant which will have a processing capacity of up to 16 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).
Project Benefits
The Australia Pacific LNG Project will generate significant benefits at regional, state and national levels, including:
- Billions of dollars in capital investment through to 2020.
- Creation of a new, long-term gas processing and export industry in Queensland.
- Creation of 4,000 to 5,000 jobs during the peak construction phase which includes the gas fields, pipeline route and LNG plant
- Creation of 1,000 jobs during the operation of the Project
- Expenditure in regional economies through the purchase and use of local resources, where practicable, for the construction and operation of the plant.
