The proposed Australia Pacific LNG project is extensive, creating thousands of jobs during construction, and generating sustainable long term employment throughout the life of the project.
Significant benefits for local regions throughout the project development area will be generated including: -
- Creation of a new, long-term gas processing and export industry in Queensland.
- Creation of 4,000 to 5,000 jobs during the peak construction phase which includes the gas fields, pipeline route and LNG plant
- Creation of 1,000 jobs during the operation of the Project
- Expenditure in regional economies through the purchase and use of local resources, where practicable, for the construction and operation of the plant.

On behalf of Australia Pacific LNG, Origin will be responsible for construction and operation of the gas fields and pipeline, and ConocoPhillips will be responsible for construction and operation of the LNG gas processing facility.
Regions where you’ll find opportunities
The project development area spans:
- The gas fields in the Surat and Bowen Basins Queensland
- A 450km gas transmission pipeline to Gladstone and
- An LNG facility near Laird Point on Curtis Island off the coast of Gladstone.

A workforce of approximately 100 is estimated to be required to operate the first gas processing train at the LNG facility, with a further 75 people required for each additional train (anticipated to be four gas processing trains).
At full operational capacity, the facility will require an estimated workforce of 325 people with additional people required during major maintenance activities.
