Climate change statement
Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) acknowledges the need to minimise greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and shares the concern of the global community that climate change poses a significant challenge for our society.
We are cognisant of the importance in ensuring access to energy for Australia and internationally, especially our neighbouring nations in Asia, and we are committed to playing our part in providing energy with a lower GHG intensity.
Natural gas has long been recognised for its lower GHG profile, flexibility and abundant supply. APLNG expects natural gas to be critical in enabling the global energy transition to a lower GHG economy.
The natural gas produced by APLNG plays a key role as a feedstock for electricity generation, fuel for industrial processes and to complement renewable energy technologies at home and across the globe. It is essential we make gas available to power local businesses and homes. APLNG will also continue to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to customers in Asia and beyond, which will play an important role in supporting the GHG reduction efforts. Some of the benefits from the global reach of natural gas produced by APLNG include improved air quality and the displacement of more GHG intensive technologies.
APLNG supports the Paris Agreement on mitigating climate change, including Australia's 2030 targets
APLNG is committed to managing our emissions intensity by actively pursuing opportunities and leveraging technological innovation to improve the energy efficiency of our operations.
APLNG supports the Paris Agreement on mitigating climate change, Australia’s 2030 targets and the internationally agreed goal to limit global warming by two degrees or less, underpinned by a practical, enduring and integrated national climate and energy policy for Australia, providing long term stability for investment decisions.
